Thank You to all the students, parents, teachers, and friends who came out to support us Monday night at McTeacher Night. Ms. Gurney’s class won the happy meal party for having the most students out of her class attend McTeacher Teacher!!! Congratulations first grade!

TOMORROW IS BACKWARDS DAY!!!! It is our Costumes for Community time this Friday and donations will go to Willard Children’s Charity Fund that goes to help Willard students.

YEARBOOK SALES are due tomorrow as well.

GOOD NEWS!!! The deadline to purchase your elementary yearbook has been extended to Friday, January 27th. This year our Student Council will be assisting the development of our yearbook!

ALSO, Monday the 23rd is McTeacher Night at the Willard McDonalds on Hunt Road from 4-8!

I hope everyone had a long and restful break. We are back into the swing of things with our first full week of school in the new year. Just a few reminders and calendar updates for this month:

NO SCHOOL: January 16th is a teacher work day and there is no school.

SICK DAYS: If your child is sick, please call us and let us know. This is cold and flu season and there have been a lot of absences. We will be calling to check on your child if the school does not receive a call by 9:00.

MCTEACHER NIGHT: We will be having a McTeacher Night on January 23rd from 4-8pm at the Willard McDonalds!!! Class with the most attendance will win a happy meal party!

MCDONALDS’ COOKIE SALES: We are preselling a baker’s dozen of McDonald’s chocolate chip cookies in the office before McTeacher Night. If you want to preorder your cookies, please send your money in to your child’s teacher.

SUPER TIGER CELEBRATION: Will be on January 25th at 2:30

COSTUMES FOR COMMUNITY: This month we will be celebrating costumes for community on Friday, January 27th. Our theme is backwards day!

This is going to be a very short week of school and our last week in 2011!!! Just a few announcements for this week:

SUPER TIGER: Will be on Tuesday the 20th at 2:30.

SCHOOLWIDE PAJAMA DAY: Will be Wednesday the 21st. We will also be accepting donations for our Costumes for Communities on that day to go the Willard Food Pantry to help keep in stock for the winter months.

EARLY OUT: School will dismiss on Wednesday at 12:30.

FIRST DAY BACK 2012: Our first day back to school will be Wednesday, January 4th.

12/5/2011 IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

The weather is quickly changing and getting very cold!!! We have only a few weeks before Winter Break, but we have a lot going on!!!

SPIRIT WEAR: Has arrived!!! If you ordered spiritwear and designated it for Christmas, it will be in the office to pick up. Otherwise it will be sent home with your child.

4TH GRADE MUSIC PROGRAM: At the high school Thursday night at 6:30. We will also present it to the the school on Friday at 2:30 in the cafeteria.

3RD GRADE READING NIGHT: Will be Thursday from 3:30 – 7:00 for all 3rd grade students

1st GRADE READING NIGHT: Will be next Tuesday the 13th from 4:00-6:00.

SUPER TIGER FOR DECEMBER: Will be on Tuesday the 20th instead of the 21st beginning at 2:30.

PAJAMA DAY: On the 21st.

HALF DAY: December 21st. School dismissed at 12:30.

I hope everyone enjoyed their break. It is quickly winding down and we will be back in school on Monday!!! Where did the time go?

This week is a very special week! On Wednesday we will be holding our Super Tiger at 2:30 and Principal Stevens along with ONE LUCKY Special Area Teacher are going to be SLIMED with hot fudge sundae toppings!!! Thanks to all the hard work of all the students during the Read-A-Thon, it is time for them to reap the rewards of their challenge.

Starting on Monday and going till 12:30 on Wednesday, students will be able to vote with pennies for their favorite teacher to get slimed. During lunch on the next three days, we will have jars with the names of Mrs. Reed, Mrs. Palmer, Mr. Anderson, Coach Bills, Mrs. Mann, and Mrs. Fletcher on them. Students can bring in their change and vote for the teacher who they want to become a human sundae at Super Tiger on Wednesday. The teacher that raises the most money will get to join me for this Read-A-Thon Challenge!!! All proceeds will go to help our local food pantry in Willard during this holiday season!

GOOD MORNING!!! WELCOME TO A BUSY WEEK!!! Below are a few announcements and activities for the week. Just a reminder, FRIDAY is early out and students will be dismissed at 12:30. If your child is involved in Tiger Tales and will be attending on Friday, students will be meeting in the gym instead of the cafeteria.

PICTURE RETAKES: Picture Retakes will be on Thursday, November 10th. If you need an order form, they will be in the office. Please ask the office or inform your child’s teacher.

HOLIDAY DONATION DRIVE: Starts this week!!! A note went home last Friday with the items we are collecting. Please have your child take items to his/her classroom and they will be tallied and collected. The top collecting class in each grade will receive a popcorn party next week!

COSTUME FOR COMMUNITY: This Friday in honor of Veteran’s Day, we will be having our Costumes For Community Day. Our theme is CAMO gear. Come dressed in your camo and donate a dollar. Proceeds will go to help local area soldiers overseas for the holidays by purchasing calling cards so they can keep in touch with their loved ones over the holidays. Every year Willard North partners up with Sports Clips to help raise money for this cause.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: Thank you for your participaton in Parent/Teacher Conferences. Every year we receive 100% participation. If you have not met with your child’s teacher yet to discuss his/her progress, please call the office to make an appointment.

THIS MONTH’S SUPER TIGER: Will be on the 30th of this month at 2:30.

Just a reminder that tomorrow Friday the 21st we will be having our fall parties and dressing up for Costumes for Community. There are several events and activities coming up in the next couple of weeks we want to make you aware of:

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: Start next week on Tuesday and Thursday. If you do not have a time scheduled to meet with your child’s teacher, please call the school at 742-2597 to make an appointment for that night.

WILLARD DRINK CUPS: Next week during Parent/Teacher conferences, Willard Drink cups will be on display for sale. Please come by and get one or several at the office if you would like. Cost is $5.00. They make great stocking stuffers and gifts.

RED RIBBON WEEK: Will be next Monday the 24th. Stay tuned for announcements for that day.

NOVEMBER 14TH COUPONING CLASS: We will be having a couponing class November 14th right after the PTO meeting. Class will start at 6:30 for those interested. Cost of the class will be $5.00 and your will receive a coupon book with $5.00 worth of savings in it. There will be an electronic registery that comes out soon allowing you to sign up for the class.

BOX TOPS: PLEASE keep sending them in.

TIGER MEALS: Just a reminder if your child’s lunch balance exceeds $10.00, they will be offered a Tiger Meal which consists of a sandwich, fruit, and drink. Cost of the meal is currently $1.00, but is subject to change from Food Service due to cost of making meals. This is the new board policy that was adopted at the beginning of the year and notes were sent home. If the balance exceeds $25.00, student activities will restricted until arrangements are made to get the balance down.

WILLARD NORTH MOVIE NIGHT: The Student Council will be sponsoring our first Willard North Movie Night on November15th. Stay tuned for details. The movie will be Cars II. I hope everyone can come!

PICTURE DAY: This is a reminder that tomorrow (Thursday) is picture day for students.

COSTUMES FOR COMMUNITY: Friday is also Costumes for Community. Come dressed as your favorite career and donate to “Care To Learn” a local Willard Charity that helps families in our school district.

PTO READ-A-THON: Our annual pto fundraiser will start on Friday. Students will be coming home with a packet from the PTO explaining details of our Read-a-Thon.
